Mr. John Alex Blanks of Woodbury passed away on January 24, 2013 at the age of 79. He was born June 2, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan. His parents were the late Hoyte Stewart Blanks and Mary Belle (Holder) Blanks. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Margaret Ruth Blanks of Woodbury; son, Clay Blanks of Los Angeles, California; daughter, Karen & Billy Cook of Woodbury; three grandchildren, Seth & Candice Powell, Lydia Powell and Hannah Powell; one great granddaughter, McKenna Powell; sister, Lousie Knight, niece Ann Lindsay; great niece and nephew, Jeff Lindsay and Rebecca Lindsay. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navyserving in the Korean War. Mr. Blanks was a retired machinist with AEDC in Tullahoma working for over 31 years. He enjoyed getting together with his friends from work and also went on several trips with the other Navy veterans he served with after the war. He loved to read, especially history. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 27, 2013 in the Smith Funeral Home chapel at 2 PM. Britt Knox, Herb Alsup and James E. Stone will officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
