Mrs. Gladys J. Parker, 83, of Woodbury died July 7, 2013. She was born on October 23, 1929 in Silver Point, Tennessee. Her parents were the late Sam Jones and Bonnie (Holland) Jones. She was preceded by her husband of nearly 50 years, Lonnie Parker, brothers, Ralph Jones, Kenneth Jones, James Arnold Jones, Ernest Jones and Sam Jones, Jr.; sisters, Irma Lee Maynard and Dimple Jones. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Connie & Wayne Phillips of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Amber Clayborn (Phillip Lucas) of Murfreesboro, Parker Phillips, Paige Phillips and Heath Phillips all of Murfreesboro; great grandson, Sage Clayborn, sisters-in-law, Bertha Jones of Woodbury and Virginia Jones of Smithville ; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Carman & Jerry Smithson and Kevin & Trina McGregor. Mrs. Parker was a member of the Simmons Chapel Free Methodist Church. She was a retired employee of the Colonial Shirt Factory. She also drove a bus for the Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency for several years. Mrs. Parker always planted a big, beautiful garden and enjoyed being outside. She loved to go to her grandchildrens basketball and baseball games. Helping people was something she always loved to do. She always had smile and loved to talk to people. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 4-9 PM. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 2 PM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Herb Alsup will officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
