Jane Purcell Haines

Mrs. Jane (Purcell) Haines, 89, of Woodbury died on July 17, 2013. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 16, 1923. Her parents were the late Gordon Purcell and Edna (Wilt) Purcell. She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Andrew Haines of Woodbury; sons and daughters-in-law, David & Cynthia Haines of Woodbury and Martin & Brenda Haines of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Mrs. Haines was born and raised in Philadelphia. She met her future husband in school and they quickly fell in love. Following high school Mrs. Haines earned her Bachelor's Degree from Temple University. After they both graduated college they began their lives together and spent a lot of time traveling for his work. They visited Europe, spent about a year in Spain and many other places. Mrs. Haines stayed active inside and outside the home. She worked for many years as an Administrative Secretary for Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania. The family moved to Tennessee and she became active in the VFW Ladies Auxillary. She was also a member of St. Patrick's Anglican Church in Smyrna. She and her husband spent many happy years together. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, July 26, 2013 from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 27, 2013 in the Smith Funeral Home chapel at 1 PM. Interment will be in Cherry Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to either the Alzheimers Foundation or St. Patrick's Anglican Church. Contact Smith Funeral Home for details.
