Mrs. Quixie F. Carroll, 93, formerly of Manchester died November 29, 2013. She was born in Cannon County on August 24, 1920. Her parents were the late Bill Milligan and Nannie (Vandygriff) Milligan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dixie Carroll; brothers, Brown Milligan and Billy Milligan; sisters, Sammye Tenpenny and Rachel Hillstrom. She is survived by a daughter, Joan & David George of Bradyville; three sons, Bob Carroll of Cocoa, FL, Roy & Joni Carroll of Hillsboro and Rick & Sok Sun Carroll of Shelbyville; brothers, Jack Milligan of McMinnville and Jimmy & Shirley Milligan of Port St. John, FL; sisters, Margie Lorance of Charlotte, NC, Betty Billings of McMinnville, Shirley & Kenneth Tate of Merritt Island, FL, Helon & Boyd Gentry of Woodbury; grandchildren, Micheal & Beth George of Bradyville, Kevin & Katina George of Bradyville, Doug & Rachel Carroll of Hillsboro, Terry & Kim Carroll of Manchester, Christina Snow of Cocoa, FL, Truman & Jennifer Carroll of Fayetteville, Justin & Malou Carroll of Huntsville, AL, Clarissa & Jason Gentry of Cookeville, Steven & Katherine Carroll of Huntsville, AL and Stacey Carroll of Nashville; also, survived by eighteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Carroll was a former member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ and current member of the Leoni Church of Christ. She worked for many years in the cafeteria at the Coffee County Junior High. She was born and raised in Cannon County. Graduated from Woodbury Central High School. Growing up in a large close knit family, they worked hard together but still knew how to have fun. She met her husband Dixie, fell in love and shared 55 years together. Anywhere he was she wanted to be. They enjoyed camping, fishing and being outdoors together. Wherever they were she made sure there was plenty to eat. She loved cooking for them and just being there. Playing rummy was a hobby she enjoyed and she wouldn't let you win, even if you were family. She was a patient, kind and loving person. The family all knew that she couldn't be still for long, she loved to be busy all the time. She was devoted to her husband and family. One of her greatest joys were family get togethers when everyone could come to eat and visit. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 1-9 PM. Funeral services will be Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 1 PM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Garland Robinson will officiate. Interment will be in Leoni Cemetery.
