Charles Ott

Charles LeeRoy Ott, age 64, died surrounded by his loving family on December 25, 2013 of ALS ( Lou Gerhig's Disease). He is survived by his wife, Angela Agnes Adkison Ott and daughters Christina Ott and husband Paul Adlaf, all of Woodbury, and Caren Ott and husband Alex Bacon of Seattle. His sisters Melynda Moore and Janet Wiley live in Texas. Chuck was an outstanding husband and father who showered unconditional love and support on his family. He was also a talented Family Nurse Practitioner, a craftsman, and a dear, loyal friend to many. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas he grew up surfing and fighting hard to make his way in the world. At age 22 he joined the Army and eventually became a nurse. His years in the Army took him to Italy, Hawaii, Georgia, Florida and Kansas and he took advantage of every opportunity to travel and seek out adventures along the way. His military commendations include the Meritorious Service Medal. Chuck met his wife of 33 years, Angie, when he walked into her hospital room at Ft. Benning, GA as her nurse. Together they raised their two daughters Christina and Caren. After retiring from the Army, he became a Family Nurse Practitioner and worked in Pensacola and Crestview, Florida before moving to Woodbury. In Tennessee, he worked in McMinnville and at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma. He loved his work in the emergency room and he had a real gift for healing, though if you asked him what he had done on any given day he would joke that he had "made the blind walk and the crippled see." Chuck leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and perseverance. His family and friends will love him always. Chuck spent many happy days sailing on the Santa Rosa Sound in Gulf Breeze, Florida and his ashes will be scattered there at a later date. His family will receive friends in Smith Funeral Home in Woodbury from 1-4 PM on Saturday, December 28. There will be no funeral. Chuck requested a party in Gulf Breeze to celebrate his life.
