Mrs. Juanita Jane Baker, 84, of Woodbury died on February 6, 2014 after an extended illness. She was born on August 25, 1929 in Inez, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her mother, Texie Sallee; husband, Phillip Carl Baker, Sr.; son, David Baker and a sister, Billie. Survivors include sons, Phil & Kay Baker of Pennsylvania, Barry & Brenda Baker of California and Howard Kelley of Kentucky; daughters, Betty & Bill Love of Woodbury, Texie & Dwight Neal of Michigan, Bobbie Kelley of Woodbury, Pat McDonald of Smyrna and Phyllis Baker; sister, Jackie Green of Florida and 23 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 42 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Baker grew up in Kentucky and later moved to Michigan. She and her husband enjoyed being in a bowling league together. She and Mr. Baker lived there for many years before coming to Smyrna. They owned and operated a Porter Paint Store in Franklin, Tennessee for many years. They moved to Woodbury over twenty years ago and became members of the New Hope Church of Christ. Mrs. Baker had many different hobbies; knitting, growing vegetables and planting flowers. Cooking for her family was always special to her. They all loved the things she made especially her chicken and dumplings and lasagna. She loved playing with her cats particularly, Rascal. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, February, 8, 2014 from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 1 PM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Richard Burks will officiate. Interment will follow at the Shady Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimers Association by contacting Smith Funeral Home.
