Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Mildred Alexander and Ernestine Short. She is survived by her husband, Austin Jennings of Woodbury; son, Mike (Marilyn) Jennings of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter, Barbara (Josh) Tenpenny of Winchester; sister, Gladys Moore of Woodbury; five grandchildren, Pam (Larry) Howard of Salt Lake City, UT, Scott Austin (Elizabeth) Jennings of Asheville, NC, Denise (Tommy) Stone of Chattanooga, TN, Marlene (Jason) Cowan of Nashville, TN, and Lyle Tenpenny and Virginia Bergin of Seattle, WA. Eleven great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Jennings grew up in the Burt Community, where her father farmed and ran a store. She was a graduate of the Woodbury Central High School Class of 1945. This is where she and her husband, Austin, met and became sweethearts. They married at the Woodbury Church of Christ on February 23, 1945, just before he reported for active duty in the Army Air Corp. They would have celebrated 69 years together two days after she passed. Carmine and Austin spent a lot of time working together in their business interests including Jennings Jewelers, and she was his selfless helpmate in their business and charitable activities. Carmine devoted herself to her family and was the matriarch. She paid special attention to her children’s care, upbringing and extracurricular activities. The Jennings family were avid campers and spent many weeks each summer camping across North America and Europe. Carmine traveled with Austin on many trips throughout the world in his duties as an International Director and later as President of the International Association of Lions Clubs. She always conducted herself with grace and poise in her various role she played along side her husband. Carmine devoted hundreds of hours to help publish the "Pictorial History of Cannon County" and worked diligently to collect and edit more than two thousand photos and captions for the book. She had a keen interest in family history and genealogy. In Celebration of her life the family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 4-8 PM in the old auditorium of the Woodbury Church of Christ. From there friends will be invited to join members of Carmine's extended family in the church fellowship hall where light refreshments will be served. Celebration of Life services will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 11 AM, also at the Woodbury Church of Christ. Members of the family will join Herb Alsup and Hunter Hay to share remembrances of Carmine's extraordinary life.
