Jewel "J. B." Brown George

Mr. Jewel Brown "J. B." George, 70, died on March 12, 2014 after an extended illness. He was born on December 5, 1943 in Murfreesboro, TN. His parents were the late Henry George and Lola Johnson George. Also preceding him in death are a daughter, Ella George; a grandson, Joshua Maynard; seven brothers, Henry George, Jr., Thomas Edward George, William George, Clifton Ray George, Marvin George, Tony Leon George and Jerry Nelson George; six sisters, Vivian Thomason, Estelle Brown, Margaret George, Rita Irene Jackson, Marjorie Fisher and Vennie Luke. He is survived by three daughters, Lola (Gary) Utt of Mansfield, OH, Barbara (Rainer) Schaefer of Germany and April (Reese) Remy of Brunswick, GA; one brother, Tommy (Dorothy) George of Smithville, TN; ten grandchildren, Laura Symsick, Gary Utt, Molly Utt, Felix Schaefer, Bastian Schaefer, Paula Schaefer, Jennifer (Nadine) Schaefer, Jessica (Peter) Schaefer, Julia (Chris) Kennedy and Kasey George; two great grandchildren, Lewis Schaefer and Megan Kennedy and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. George grew up in the Mt. Pisgah community in Dekalb County, TN. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving as a mess sargent. The majority of his time in the Army was spent stationed in Germany. He enjoyed his time in the military and was proud of his service. Mr. George was a member of the Church of Christ. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 12-2 PM. Memorial services will follow in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Wayne George will officiate.
