Mr. Walden Claude Jones, 89, of Woodbury passed away on February 17, 2015. He was born in Woodbury on July 19, 1925. His parents were the late Jim Jones and Mae (Bailey) Jones. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Walter L. Jones, James H. Jones, Harry F. Jones and Larry M. Jones and sisters, Mildred Tassey, Gladys Ruby and Pauline Jones. Mr. Walden was born and raised in Woodbury. He and twin brother, Walter, were extremely close. During World War II and the Korean War,his four brothers served in the military. Even though Walden could not serve, he supported his brothers with pride and patriotic spirit. Walden was a restless soul that had to be busy all the time. He worked hard at his jobs. He worked at the Armour Creamery in Woodbury until it closed. Then he worked at Alcan also in Woodbury until the family moved to Donelson in 1972. There he retired from the Hyatt Regency in Nashville. After retirement, he spent his spare time helping neighbors. Walden was known in his neighborhood to be the "champion leaf raker" and spent hours raking and bagging leaves. Mr. Walden enjoyed wood carving. He liked watching the Price Is Right on tv while eating a ham sandwich for lunch and wrestling in the evenings. He thought WD-40 could fix just about anything. He was a member of the Woodbury Church of Christ. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 1-2 pm. Funeral services will follow in the Smith Funeral Home chapel.
