Mr. Bennie C. Lance, 74, of Morrison died at his home on April 20, 2015. He was born in Bradyville, TN on July 24, 1940. His parents were the late Carlos Newton Lance and Zora Esther McKnight Lance. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Treva Norris. He is survived by his wife, Mary V. Lance of Morrison; sons, Bennie S. Lance of Edmond, OK and William S. Lance of Morrison; brother, Eugene Lance of Pinellas Park, FL; sisters, Gaye Hassen of Garden City, MI and Faye James of Maryville, TN; grandchildren, Alyssa Lance, Brandon Lance and Hailey Lance; also numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Lance moved with his family to Michigan when he was about two years old. He joined the U. S. Army and was stationed in Germany for some of his duty. He moved back to Woodbury in 1963 and married in 1965. He and his wife both worked at Genesco for a time. Then they moved to LaVergne and later to Michigan. During his time in Michigan he worked for GM. He retired with 30 years service. He and Mrs. Mary joined a bowling league for fun and to spend time together. Following his retirement he and his family moved back to Morrison. He loved Cannon County and found a little farm to enjoy with his wife. He loved to work in the garden. He planted strawberries and found contentment in keeping the garden clean and being outdoors. Mrs. Mary commented many times on how wonderful a husband and father he was and how proud they were of their sons and grandchildren. They were blessed to enjoy 50 years of marriage.
