Mr. Melvin Green, 68, of Woodbury passed away on August 31, 2016. He was born on September 12, 1947 in Woodbury, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Cecil Green and Thelma Ruth Messick Green and by five brothers, Junior Green, Billy Green, Marvin Green, Don Green, and Jimmy Green. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Parker Green; son, Greg Green(Tammy) of Woodbury; sisters, Ruby Velasco of Murfreesboro, Betty (Tom) Grissom of Woodbury, Melba Emptage of California, Joyce (Jim) Burns of Murfreesboro and Peggy (Barry) Sain of Manchester; also by mother-in-law, Bea Parker and brother and sister-in-law, James and Barbara Perry; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was a retired employee of International Paper. He enjoyed gardening, working on cars, and helping family and friends. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, September 2, 2016 from 9-11 am. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 at Cherry Cemetery. Steven Smith will officiate.
