Mr. Thomas H. “Tom” Grissom, 85, of Woodbury passed away at his home on December 26, 2016. He was born in Van Buren County, TN on August 21, 1931. He was preceded in death by his mother, Opal Grissom Turner. He is survived by his wife, Betty A. Green Moore Grissom of Woodbury; son, Joseph Matlock of Lakeland, FL; step-son, Tony Barrett of California; step-daughter, Holly Stone of Woodbury; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Scott, Zachary, and Sierra; great grandchildren, Jace and Releigh and by several brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews; and close friend and fellow musician, Eldon Darrah. Mr. Grissom was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during Korean War. While in the service he was injured in combat when the communications center he worked in was attacked. He later began working for Quality Tool and Engineering as a tool and die maker, retiring from there. He was a former member of the VFW Post 5064 in McMinnville. Mr. Grissom had an easy-going attitude and loved to joke and smile. He was a talented musician who could play the saxophone and keyboard. He also attended the Church of Christ. A graveside comital service will be held at Cherry Cemetery on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2 pm.
