Jennifer Wood Steger

Jennifer Anne (Wood) Steger died peacefully in Germantown Methodist Hospital on January 29, 2017 at the age of 68. Jennifer is survived by her husband, John Rhodes Steger; children, Cassandra Ellis, Amanda Carmichael, Weston Steger; Mother Trevle Wood, 2 sisters: Kathy Gulledge & Beth Cox, 12 grandchildren plus nephews/nieces. She is preceded in death by her father, Alvin Wood. Jennifer was born on July 23rd in Woodbury, TN to Alvin and Trevle Wood. She graduated from Freed-Hardeman and David Lipscomb with a home economics/teaching degree. She married John Rhodes Steger following graduation. After moving to Pensacola, Fl she began working as a middle school teacher for Pensacola Christian. Over the time of 1974 to 1983 Rhodes and Jennifer welcomed 3 children into the world. The children remember her as a loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Jennifer was accomplished at cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, weaving, and quilting. She canned the vegetables she grew in her garden. She would enter many of her canned creations in the local fair. One year she won so many ribbons she was interviewed by the local newspaper. She was an active and dedicated member of the Germantown Church of Christ. A memorial service will be held at the Germantown Church of Christ Wednesday February 1st at 11:00 a.m. with visitation to begin at 10 a.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Leoni Church of Christ, Woodbury, TN on Thursday February 2nd at 1:00 p.m .
