Mr. William Henry Whittington, 78, formerly of McComb, Mississippi passed away in Murfreesboro, TN on November 17, 2017. He was born on November 24, 1938 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was the son of Charles Whittington and Eula Lee Allred Whittington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. He is survived by sons, Rob (Sandra) Whittington of Christiana, TN and Jerry Whittington of South Haven, MS; daughters, Kim Paquin of FL and Judi Harris of NC; one sister, Mary Spielman of Denim Springs, LA; and ten grandchildren. Mr. Whittington grew up in a large hard-working family. The area his family lived in was very agricultural and grew a lot of cotton. He and his siblings were expected to pick cotton to help his parents on the farm. was a veteran of the U S Navy serving his country for over 23 years. Including during the Vietnam War. After his military service he worked in maintenance for many years at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb. He was an original “MacGyver”. He could fix and build all sorts of things. Once he built his own electric yard edger and built a truck from a VW Bug. He enjoyed listening to country music and he rode a Harley for many years. He took pride in making his home and yard look nice. Mr. Whittington’s wishes are to be cremated and his family will hold a private ceremony where his ashes will be placed in a river.
