Jimmy "Smurf" Dale Murphy

Mr. Jimmy “Smurf” Murphy, 61, of the Ivy Bluff Community passed away on November 26, 2017. He was born in Woodbury, TN on January 15, 1956. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Josie Murphy. He was also preceded in death by all his siblings. He is survived by many friends. Mr. Murphy was raised in the Short Mountain area in a large family. He was a hard worker and his friends liked to kid him he could dig like a backhoe. When he was able he liked to go fishing. The thing he enjoyed most was sitting around with friends, talking, and having a good time. His friends in the Ivy Bluff Community would help him as his health began to fail. They tried to encourage him and be there for him all they could. His special friend was his dog, Roadie. He enjoyed having him always at his side. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 11-2 pm. Funeral services will follow in the Smith Funeral Home chapel at 2 pm with Dan Sweet officiating. Interment will be in Wood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to assist with funeral expenses by contacting Smith Funeral Home.
