Mrs. Rachel A. Hall Smitty was born on Aug. 10, 1934 in Nashville, TN. She passed away Dec. 13, 2018, surrounded by her family. She loved them very much. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and daughter. She gave her whole heart to each of these roles. She was a member of the Church of Christ and encouraged her family to lean on the Lord. She was married to Ben David Smitty and never remarried after losing him in 1987. She loved taking care of her family and had many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Ownby “Obie” Hall and Sarah Emma Bowers Hall and by two brothers, Roy Hall and Howard Hall. Survived by her children, Ben David Smitty and Judy Smitty; three grandchildren, Christina Martinez, Jessica (Dustin) Taylor, and Catherine Smitty; four great grandchildren, Dillon, Allison, Ben, and Lillian Taylor; two brothers, Fred (Maryann) Hall of Franklin and Glenn (Glenda) Hall of Cookeville; four sisters, Ruth Smitty of Murfreesboro, Carole Nellums of Memphis, Joyce McKenzie of Alabama, and Linda (Roger) Reed of Lascassas; sisters-in-law, Sue Hall of Michigan and Linda Hall of Murfreesboro; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 2-7 pm. Funeral services will be Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018 at 1 pm in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Ralph Richardson will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to assist with expenses.
