Ida Belle Smith

Mrs. Ida Belle Smith, 84, of Woodbury passed away with family at her side on March 16, 2020.  She was born on February 5, 1936 in Woodbury, TN.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Clennie Snow Bryson and Nancy Dovie Lee Jones Bryson, husband, James “Harley” Smith, sons, Jimmy Smith and Bruce Smith and a sister, Bobbie Attress Prater.

She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Grooms and Brenda Brown of Woodbury, twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ida was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  In years past, her husband owned Smith’s Body Shop and she would often make trips to pick up parts for him.  She loved cooking for her family.  They especially loved her “taters”.  In her free time, she enjoyed playing Bingo and Rook.  She made many friends playing in the Cannon County Rook Club and earned several awards.  She knew how to bid and when to play her trumps.  She became a member of the Cannon County Senior Center and the Pocahontas Senior Center.  Going to yard sales with her daughters looking for bargains was always a fun time.  She enjoyed talking with family and friends and having a good laugh.  She loved listening to gospel music and was a long-time member of the Midway Church of Christ.

Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday March 18, 2020 from to 2-6 pm and Thursday March 19, 2020 from 11-2 pm.  Funeral services will be Thursday March 19, 2020 at 2 pm in the Smith Funeral Home chapel.  Bryan Pitts and Greg Mitchell will officiate.  Interment will be in Riverside Garden.  Pallbearers will be Royce Prater, Cody Bogle, Chris Smith, Jamie Smith, Terry Campbell, and Harley Don Brown.  Memorial donations may be made to either the Cannon County Senior Center or the Cannon County Rook Club.  Share memories and condolences with the family at www.smithfuneralhomewoodbury.net  Smith Funeral Home, 303 Murfreesboro Rd.
