Shelia Faye Barton

Mrs. Shelia Barton, 63, of Readyville passed away on January 1, 2020. She was born in Athens, Alabama on June 1, 1956. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adren Reeves and Roberta George Reeves, also by brothers, Charles “Timmy” Reeves and Scotty Wilson.

She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Barton; sons, Chris Tate of Springfield, TN, Bobby (Robyn) Tate of Michigan, stepson, Chris (Carolyn) Barton of McMinnville; stepdaughter, Lorie (Ron) Polidora of Hubert, NC; brother, Stanley Reeves of Murfreesboro; sisters, Donna (Tom) Savely of Portland and Rhonda (Gary) Arnold of Christiana; six grandchildren, Mary, Landon, William G., Timothy, William A. and Dakota.

She was born in Alabama and a short time later her family moved to Nashville where she was raised. She was a long-time employee of Whirlpool in La Vergne. She met her husband while they worked at Whirlpool. They were members of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Readyville. They enjoyed going to flea markets to get bargains. She liked making ceramics. They planted a garden every year and she loved plants. She had a plant from her grandmother. It was over 50 years old. She also kept an aquarium and liked to watch hummingbirds. She and her sisters were very close and enjoyed getting together. Once they had taken a trip to Dallas to visit her sister, Rhonda. While there, they visited the South Fork mansion from the tv show, Dallas. She also enjoyed country music, especially George Strait and Alan Jackson.

Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 12-3 pm. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 2 pm in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Rick McFerrin will officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Cornerstone Community Church.
